Very few people not involved in the information technology field know what twain software is. Yet anyone who owns a digital camera uses this specialized application every time they download images from their camera to their computer. Twain software is an application that converts files made in the camera manufacturer’s proprietary file format into more commonly used image viewing file types such as jpegs. When we attempt Mac digital photo recovery we are facing two special difficulties.
The first is that our application must be compatible with the Mac OS X system and the Mac HFS volumes directory system. Second, for photo recovery Mac software must be able to recognize conventional popular file formats such as jpegs and png is as well as high end camera manufacturer’s RAW files. This presents quite a challenge as the data recovery program must work within the Mac OS X parameters yet reach beyond those parameters to recognize file structures that were basically designed to be compatible with Windows. At the present time the best program to accomplish all of this is Remo’s Recover for Mac.
